I'm Bored

As the titles states, I'm bored, so I'm going to update my blog.

Nothing much has been going on really. The summer is pretty much winding down, not too many must see movies in the pipeline until September, but it's not too bad. Definitely looking forward to The Simpsons' Movie this week. Hopefully we'll get our prints on Thursday so we can pre-screen them, or even Wednesday would rock, but that would only happen if we do late evening or midnight showings on Thursday. My friend Kyle tells me that select prin
ts of the movie will have a teaser trailer for The Dark Knight, but it's merely a rumor at this point I believe, though it would still kick ass if one of our prints had the trailer. There's also The Bourne Ultimatum a little while after that, which should also be awesome.

I didn't get around to seeing I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry this weekend, mainly because I had family visiting and I heard it pretty much sucked balls. I di
d get to see the majority of Hairspray in the booth last night, though, and I must say, it's very entertaining. Then again, it damn well better be if it has Christopher fucking Walken, and John Travolta dressed in drag. I've always enjoyed musicals and plays to begin with, but I'd never seen Hairspray before, nor had I heard of it until trailers for it started to pop up. Anyway, it should make for a good date movie, or if you just want to have a fun time watching a movie.

I've also been crunching down anime and video games with veracity lately. I've added three new games to my "collection" in the past few weeks alone. I
picked up Puzzle Quest, which is a fun "Bejeweled meets RPGs" game, and very addicting. Then I picked up Lethal Enforcers for the Genesis, which is a great retro title despite what the twits at PSG say. A few days later I picked up Elite Beat Agents for the DS, and have since become addicted to its rhythmic use of the stylus. I may or may not pick up a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Collectors Edition for the GameCube. GameStop (despite their evilness) had three copies of this hard-to-find game for $45 when I was there on Wednesday last week. Since you could only get it in the US if you had a subscription to Nintendo Power Magazine during November 2003, it's highly sought after by Zelda fans and collectors. You get four titles on it, The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda II, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask, all on the same disc. I have the special disc you received with your pre-order of Wind Waker, so I need this one to round out my collection. I'm also attempting to make my way through Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echos for the first time, in lieu of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption coming out in late August.

On the anime front, since Death Note is done, I've had to find other things to live off of. Bleach is still going strong, but I usually like to watch several serie
s at once. I've latched onto Lucky Star, which is a funny series in similar fashion to Azumanga Daioh, which is one of my favorites. There's also The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, which is absolutely hilarious, and apparently pinged for a second season. I've also started watching Romeo X Juliet, a 26 episode series currently running in Japan that is very loosely based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. The animation is very well done, and the story isn't bad so far, even though it takes a lot of liberties and has been, "Japan-itized," per se.

Yeah, I have little to no life . . . .

I was also one of the millions of fans who picked up the final Harry Potter book at midnight on Friday. That night is actually kind of funny. I went to my local Barnes and Noble to obtain a wrist strap as I had done for the last two books, then went to
visit with a friend who came into town for an appointment for a few hours (and summarily helped her sister get some stuff working on her new MacBook Pro, **drool**), then back to my house to chill for about an hour. Kyle called me and asked if I was going to wait up at Barnes, and wanted to know if I wanted a ride up there so he could hang with me (he was returning from his girlfriend's). So he picked me up and both of us obtained straps (gave my first one to another lady, since I would have to wait for Kyle to get his book anyway). So, midnight rolls around, and we're bored.

We don't want to wait until 1AM to get our books, so we go to Wal-Mart to see if there's a line there, and there is. So then I tell Kyle we should check out Kroger, as Jim and I had done so years ago and got the 5th book without any hassle or waiting. Sure enough, we get to Kroger and they have a bin filled with like, 60 books, all for the buying, same price as Barnes and Noble. They were also screening the movies and giving out free pop-corn and Jolly Rancher soda, so we partook of said hospitalities. In all, we obtained our books by
12:30, which was awesome. Kyle has never read any of the books, but wanted to read the 6th and 7th ones before the movies came out, so I lent him my 6th book to read before he started the 7th. I still have to finish the 5th . . . . Anyway, he goes home and finds his sister has the first two books, and decides to start reading the entire series, which is awesome.

Anywho, that's pretty much a summary of my life since my last post.

This is hysterical by the way, and would be completely fucking AWESOME if true:
